Bay of Islands Hash 777 run - Saturday 27th August
Not quite in order, but a great weekend away at Bay of Islands Holiday Camp in spite of it being mushy and muddy underfoot.
Magic's new campervan gumboots were perfect for the conditions.
Saturday 3pm. The trail had been laid by our hares, Knose and Tight Bolt, once they had shaken out the old damp mildewed flour from the dribble dropper and replaced with new.
Over the road, littlies, biggies and in betweenies. The private road took us up to a check where Dimmer and Little Dimmer branched right looking for trail. "You're going the wrong way" echoed through the now decimated pine forest while the old farts came to a large tree fall. some clambered over, or around, some thought of their expensive prosthetics and elected to turn back and hunt out the P.S.
Trail came to a full stop and those that had ventured, turned back and got passed by the younger and fitter bouncing back.
On our return we spied hashers off trail **?? ^^+! Hadn't they learned. A red shirt (Tight Bolt) , a psychedelic blinding pink shirt (Blackbeard) and a few black shirts Dimmer and Tinnie. Blackbeard seemed to be in the swamp, up to his ears in the bulrushes and toi toi.
Lucky it was a 3pm start. We all got back in daylight and met Screw Loose at his hash mobile where refreshing nectar was produced.
Back to the campsite, a quick shower and we dressed in theme for the evening celebrations.
Tight Bolt as purser of the aircraft was in charge and started the evening off. Awards, non awards, birthdays Screw Looses 71st, and general bonhomie.
Screw Loose and Tight Bolt's family did an outstanding dinner, what a feast. Ham by Shuttle, Lamb, fabulous potato bake. and a 71st cake in chocolate and carrot cake with a brilliant blue icing.
Thanks to Screw Loose and tight Bolt's family for a great weekend.
Little hashers Toby, David and Michael kept us entertained with birthday balloons.
